With a happy New Year and lots of snow, the Little Stars after-school care center sledded together, cheerfully and actively, into the new year. The winter conditions not only made the children's eyes light up, but also strengthened their sense of community and enjoyment of outdoor activities.
In keeping with the season, after-school skill time is also themed. Students explore winter creatively and in an age-appropriate manner through a variety of activities. With the help of personal overviews and small projects, they illustrate their individual impressions of this season. This allows them to reflect on their experiences while also promoting their ability to express themselves.
In addition, we place great importance on promoting academic skills. With a winter poem and by copying and pronouncing English words, the children practice their written comprehension and expand their vocabulary in a foreign language in a playful way. These activities combine learning with fun and motivation and provide the children with lasting support in their development.
The team of educators attaches particular importance to working with the classes in a way that is oriented towards the real world. By relating to the current season, a common understanding of winter topics is created, while at the same time leaving room for curiosity, exchange, and fun in learning.
The creative activities are particularly popular: whether building a birdhouse, cutting out and crafting a penguin, or other creative activities—these activities require manual dexterity, imagination, and aesthetic education in equal measure. The children can implement their own ideas and proudly present their results and record them in their portfolios.
